About the Role
The Library Assistant (Research Reporting) reports to the Research Reporting Analyst to process and check open access compliance and eligibility queries, as well as requests for publishing metrics in preparation for Research Excellence Framework 2029 (REF2029) and other research assessment activities. They support capture and measurement of outputs and outcomes from research activity in the institutional research information system, and assist with REF 2029 audit preparation, including open access compliance; responding to output eligibility audit requests from researchers.

About You
The post-holder assists with tracking and reporting on progress with researcher assessment exercises and reviewer completion, assessing areas of low return or non-engagement and assisting Research Managers in schools and institutes to resolve. This role is crucial in advancing the Library Services vision and ambitions, providing expertise and leadership to be central to the research endeavour at Queen Mary.

The post-holder works closely with colleagues in Open Research Services in Library Services, as well as Professional Services staff in academic schools and institutes and ensures that library-related service improvements make best use of the expertise, technologies and infrastructure available across the university.

About the Department
The Library Services Department has over 80 staff, with libraries and study spaces located at three of Queen Mary University of London’s campuses, responsibility for the university archives, and a strong online presence.

The department is rapidly evolving and building a culture of diversity, service excellence and continuous improvement commensurate with the needs of a rapidly growing university which excels in teaching, learning and research, while retaining strong links to the local community in the East End of London.

The department comprises five teams which work across our London and transnational sites and online: Library Frontline Services, Library Learning Support and Engagement, Library Resources and Collections, Library Research Support, and the newly formed team of Library Innovation and Planning.
