Junior Systems Administrator

Job description:

We have an exciting opportunity in our IT Services department for someone who thrives on providing excellent and creative support to academic staff and students, in the use of learning technologies.

What you’ll do

You’ll be part of a team that plays an essential role in maintaining and developing our education products to support day to day learning and teaching activities. You’ll provide third line support for the daily operations of a range of digital products which directly support teaching, learning and the overall student experience.

You will work with colleagues within the Education, Digital Learning Team and many of our suppliers to develop existing and implement new products, with main focus on support and ease of use.

Systems the team support, configure and maintain include but are not limited to our institutional VLE (Blackboard Learn), our lecture capture system (Echo 360) and our student placement system (InPlace).

You’ll enjoy this role if you enjoy overcoming complex problems, working in collaboration with others to improve the overall experience of the core systems used by our staff and students.

• Is people focussed, keeping our staff and students at the heart of everything they do.
• Works well with others, including first/second line professional support services, academics and students to understand what’s needed and how we can improve our products and services to meet their needs.
• Is a skilled and creative problem solver, works well under pressure, and ensures our products and processes are easy to understand and use.
• Is always learning and developing their skills, can identify areas to develop and implements new techniques and approaches to improve outcomes.
• Enjoys working in a highly collaborative environment, and being part of focused multi-disciplinary teams.
