About the Role
We are seeking a proactive Programme Manager working with Professor Segun Fatumo to oversee day-to-day operations of the Genomic Diversity group’s research portfolio, including their flagship MRC KidneyGenAfrica Partnership programme. This is a pan-African partnership that will strengthen Africa’s genomics research in kidney disease through capacity building for African-based researchers and developing open access data sharing. The Genomic Diversity research group advances equitable genomics by championing the representation of diverse populations in genetic and multi-omic research. Our goal is to build a future where genomics reflects global diversity and delivers inclusive, impactful health solutions.
About You
You will oversee the day-to-day operational and strategic management of the research portfolio, including the KidneyGenAfrica Partnership programme and other major research programmes in the group. You will manage all administrative aspects of the research portfolio, including developing detailed project management and monitoring systems, managing and coordinating complex tasks, developing and running governance structures. You will liaise and correspond with multiple stakeholders and oversee communication across academic partners and external audiences, with occasional travel to Africa. You will possess excellent organisational skills to ensure successful delivery of the programme across the different partner organisations in Europe, USA and Africa.
About the Institute
The Precision Healthcare University Research Institute (PHURI) aims to improve health through data-driven medicine. PHURI’s multidisciplinary teams will address interconnected research themes including Omics Science; Imaging, and Therapeutic Innovation - transcending the existing boundaries between disciplines.
PHURI builds on the close partnerships between Queen Mary University of London and Barts NHS Trust to ensure that our research is focused on where it is most needed. Using our linked health and molecular patient data we will drive the development and targeted prescription of treatments based on patients’ needs. This will help to build a stronger and more focused health service for the diverse communities of East London, the UK and the world.
PHURI utilises an environment where the hospital and university interact with industry, clinicians, patient groups and translational partners to accelerate the development, evaluation and translation of new technologies and interventions.
We are an ambitious, curious and enthusiastic international team, which promotes excellence in the context of a happy, balanced, and collegiate institute.

Benefits
Competitive salaries, access to a generous pension scheme, 30 days’ leave per annum (pro-rata for part-time/fixed-term), a season ticket loan scheme and access to a comprehensive range of personal and professional development opportunities. In addition, we offer a range of work life balance and family friendly, inclusive employment policies, campus facilities and flexible working arrangements.
