The AI Training Specialist will support the University’s commitment to developing AI literacy and responsible use of artificial intelligence across learning, teaching, assessment, and professional services.

 Working within the centrally based AI@Kent team, the postholder will design and deliver training, practical resources, and guidance that help staff and students use AI tools effectively, ethically, and in line with institutional principles. 

The role focuses on hands-on training delivery, development of learning materials, and supporting academic and professional service colleagues to build confidence in using generative AI for everyday educational and administrative tasks. The postholder will work closely with the AI & Education Specialists to implement institution-wide initiatives and ensure a consistent, high-quality approach to AI capability-building. 

 As an AI Training specialist you can expect to be involved in :

  • Designing and delivering staff and student training on generative AI tools, focusing on practical skills, safe usage, and effective applications in learning, teaching, assessment, and university workflows. 
  • Developing accessible learning materials, user guides, exemplars, and online resources (e.g. SharePoint, Moodle, Panopto) that support AI literacy and responsible engagement. 
  • Supporting academic teams by providing practical guidance on AI-informed teaching practices, assessment adaptations, and student-facing AI expectations. 
  • Providing first-line advice and troubleshooting on pedagogic, operational, or ethical questions relating to AI tools, escalating complex issues to senior colleagues where appropriate. 

 What will you bring to the role ? 

  • Strong working knowledge of generative AI tools and their applications. 
  • Understanding of opportunities, risks, and ethical considerations associated with AI in education.
  • Experience designing or delivering training, workshops, or staff development activities. 
  • Experience creating accessible online learning materials
  • Experience working collaboratively in multi-professional teams
