There is an exciting opportunity to join the Central and Research Accounting department, within the Universitys Finance Division, as an Accounts Assistant. The team has overall responsibility for the accounting operations of the University and its subsidiaries, and for providing related guidance to the Schools and Departments across the University.
In this role, you will support the production of the Universitys statutory financial statements and monthly management information, focussing on the Fixed Assets, Inventory, Projects, and key General Ledger balances. You will also lead on transaction processing for several University subsidiaries, ensuring timely and accurate financial activity.
You will work collaboratively with colleagues across the collegiate University within the Finance Division, Colleges, departments, the Research Office, CUDAR, and with auditors to maintain strong financial controls and high-quality reporting.
The role includes coverage of the finance helpdesks, supporting users on ad hoc queries, within the Central and Research Accounting team, with particular focus on the General Ledger, Fixed Asset, Inventory, and Grants. This role leads on the responsibility for the general ledger, creating new codes and ensuring setups are correct. You will help ensure the integrity of financial records, reconcile key modules to the General Ledger, and contribute to the year-end audit of the University and its subsidiaries.
AAT Level 4 training support is available with this role.
The role holder will be part of a diverse team, working within a busy office environment, so you must be able to prioritise and work to tight deadlines. Proficiency in using Windows based packages and experience in finance administration are essential. Knowledge of Oracle Financials would be advantageous.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 3 years in the first instance.
