The role

The Centre for Academic Language and Development is seeking an EAP Lecturer to take a leading role in enhancing the Centre’s assessment and academic literacy expertise.  As an experienced EAP practitioner and leader, you should be comfortable working across contexts and developing others to do the same.

Drawing on your experience in EAP assessment you will work alongside EAP colleagues and senior leadership to devise and implement actions that further develop assessment literacy across the Centre’s EAP provision.

This is an opportunity to influence our work at a pivotal stage in how we understand teaching, learning, and assessment in a new digital era.   At a time of significant debate around artificial intelligence, academic literacy, authorship and what this means for EAP, your expertise in assessment and academic literacies will help ensure the centre remains at the forefront of these conversations within the University of Bristol and the sector.

We are a supportive but ambitious team, looking for someone to bring new perspectives to develop both individuals and the centre provision.  In return we will actively support and stretch you in achieving your development goals.

What will you be doing?

You’ll be

  • collaborating with colleagues across disciplines and contexts
  • working flexibly across our International Foundation Programme, in-sessional, and pre-sessional to enhance provision in the areas of assessment literacy and academic literacies
  • applying your expertise in academic literacies and assessment to inform discussions on the relationship between artificial intelligence, EAP, and academic literacies
  • contribute to the centre’s approach to developing staff in EAP assessment & academic literacies

You should apply if

  • you thrive working
    • to develop new perspectives and approaches
    • with a variety of individuals who have differing levels of awareness and time to collaborate
    • autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team
  • you can
    • prioritise and manage a varied workload
    • build connections, collaborate effectively and maintain those working relationships
    • champion and develop understanding of EAP, assessment and academic literacies within CALD, across the University and more widely in the sector
  • you have
    • strong knowledge of academic discourse, disciplines, and contexts
    • experience & expertise in EAP assessment
