Contract Hours: Full Time, 37 hours per week (plus significant out of hours duties at certain times of year)
The post holder will be responsible for delivering the recruitment strategy, developing strong relationships with schools and colleges, and establishing wider regional links. They will promote the internal experience of studying at Birmingham Newman University through visits to schools, colleges, and UK recruitment fairs, as well as by managing and delivering on‑campus events to enhance the university’s profile and drive applications. Working across both corporate and subject areas, they will build effective partnerships with academic colleagues and external School and College stakeholders. In addition, they will serve as the designated account contact for a portfolio of specific schools and colleges.
The role is also responsible for delivering a wide range of student recruitment and outreach activities, representing the University at local and national events, and providing high‑quality information, advice and guidance to prospective students, parents and teachers. The postholder will develop strong relationships with schools, colleges and community organisations, organising and delivering on‑campus visits and large‑scale events, and coordinating a team of student ambassadors. They will also collect and analyse engagement data to inform future recruitment strategies, contribute to marketing initiatives, conduct market research, and ensure compliance with GDPR, safeguarding, Health and Safety and sector guidelines. They will support wider departmental activity during peak periods and deputise for the Marketing and Student Recruitment Manager when required.
The successful applicant will be educated to degree level (or equivalent) with experience of working in a people‑focused environment and in delivering presentations to large groups. They must have excellent interpersonal skills, good IT competence, and the ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats. An understanding of safeguarding and health & safety requirements is essential, along with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. The role requires flexibility to travel, occasional evening/weekend work, and an enhanced DBS check.
