About the role

The Artistic Programme Manager will play an essential part of Attenborough Centre’s future. Working closely with the Head of Cultural Programmes & Engagement this role will work to develop the centre’s programme of high quality and engaging performances and events that connect with a broad range of audiences, including our students. You will collaborate and partner with a range of existing external stakeholders alongside actively seeking new programming opportunities. Internally you will work with other colleagues across the Division of Library, Culture & Heritage and the wider University using your expertise to support the strategic priorities of the Division in particular around civic engagement.

About you

You will have a proven track record of programming and producing artistic work across multiple artforms in venues, festivals or higher education settings. You will have excellent project and stakeholder management skills who can maintain and nurture relationships ranging from student societies, individual artists to nationally significant arts organisations.

Alongside your relationship management skills, you will be expert in detailed project management to ensure budgeting, contracting, scheduling, and production planning elements are managed effectively.

About our Division

The Library, Culture & Heritage Division was established in 2024, consisting of the University of Sussex Library, the Keep archive service (in partnership with East Sussex County Council and Brighton & Hove City Council) and Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts – a multi-disciplinary arts centre

The centre presents a seasonal programme of theatre, dance, live art, film, music, discussion & debate and digital practices.  It is an exciting time to join the recently formed Division as we develop our artistic programme to support our strategic priorities around engagement.

Founded in 1961, the University Library is an important research facility in the UK with exceptional services and internationally significant collections. Today the Library is far more than a building and a collection of printed materials. It plays a central role in the creation, publication, application and preservation of knowledge and research at our thriving University.
