Applications are sought for a committed Post-doctoral Research Fellow to work with Dr Robert Steele conducting research for an STFC funded project entitled: Unlocking the isotopic evolution of the early Solar System: evidence from chondrules. The primary duties will be to prepare chondrule samples from meteorites, purify Ni and Cr aliquots from chondrule and meteorite samples by ion exchange chemistry, make high precision mass-independent isotope analyses, interpret results and write manuscripts in collaboration with the PI.
The successful applicant will have (or be near to completion of) a PhD in isotope cosmochemistry or geochemistry. Strong candidates will have technical expertise in clean lab cosmochemistry/geochemistry, ion exchange chemistry, and measurement of isotope ratios by mass spectrometry. The postdoctoral researcher would join a cohort of researchers within the School of Earth & Environmental Sciences.
The post is available for 36 months starting 1 October 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter.
