The University of Reading in it’s Centenary year is a thriving organisation with new and exciting initiatives, which makes the Technical Accounts Assistant role an interesting and varied role.

The role sits within the Technical Accounting team and reports to the Financial Controller (interim). There are lots of opportunities to liaise with many areas of the University, including Treasury, Transactional services, Financial Planning and the University tax team.

The role is essential to supporting the Financial Reporting team responsible for the production of financial accounting information including control account reviews, journal preparation, analysing accounting information for proposed asset capitalisations and assisting in the production of internal and external reports.

You will have:

  • Education to at least A-level standard or equivalent.
  • Good communication skills and be able to interact effectively with all levels within the University.
  • Ability to apply rules and regulations to accounting issues.
  • Competent Microsoft Office skills including Excel pivots/lookups.
  • High level of numeracy and ideally have some accounting knowledge and working towards an accounting qualification.
  • Experience of working in a financial environment and working with financial systems.
  • Ability to reconcile data from a variety of sources.
  • A proactive approach, with ability to work within a team and adapt to change.
  • Work unsupervised and as part of a team.
  • Be customer focused.
  • Self motivated and able to take a proactive approach.
