Are you a highly organised and creative individual who carefully notices detail and who enjoys working collaboratively? We have an exciting opportunity to join our stewardship team, ensuring our major donors, who have made five-, six- and seven-figure gifts to the University, are thanked in an appropriate and timely manner and showing impact to encourage repeat giving.
Excellent stewardship - or donor relations - is a key area of philanthropy. As the Donor Relations Officer, you will manage the stewardship programme for our growing scholarship scheme, including producing student-focused impact reports for our community of major donors.
You will act as the first point of contact for students receiving donor-funded scholarships, liaise with colleagues in the Fundraising and Student Fees & Finance teams, and project manage the content collection, design and editing of scholarship and prize reports. These reports are vital to a successful donor journey, as well as a vehicle to tell powerful and inspiring stories. This is a great opportunity for the right candidate to make their mark on a new stewardship programme for scholarships, as the cohort of 1,100 donor-funded scholars grows.
As well as creating readable, engaging reports, you must ensure that all data and information is up to date and stored within our supporter database. Overall, your clear and concise written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and meticulous process handling will help to inspire our donors, demonstrate impact, and aid future fundraising.
Alongside the stewardship for scholarships, you will support the Stewardship Manager to deliver a comprehensive programme of tailored stewardship and donor recognition, showing the impact of philanthropy across the University. Experience in philanthropy or donor relations is an advantage. Excellent project management skills, the ability to follow detailed procedures, and a warm personality are essential.
This is a key role in Campaigns and Alumni Relations (CAR) - the department responsible for fundraising and graduate engagement at the University of Sheffield. Donations from our alumni (former students) reduce financial barriers faced by students and accelerate research that’s bringing about real change, from break-through treatments for devastating neurological conditions, to global projects improving lives for refugees.
