Aston University's 2030 Strategy sets out a bold vision to become a leading university of science, technology, and enterprise, with a transformational impact on students, staff, businesses, and communities. The University is recognised as a sector leader in knowledge exchange, achieving top ratings for both working with business and local growth and regeneration in the most recent Knowledge Exchange Framework and we are also recognised for our pioneering work in Knowledge Transfer Partnerships, where we rank amongst the leading institutions across the UK.
As a Business Development Coordinator, you will partner closely with Business Development Managers to coordinate and smoothly deliver the operational aspects of business development and knowledge exchange activity. This includes supporting collaborative research and innovation projects, producing clear, data-informed insights using tools such as PowerBI and DataCity, and helping to maintain and continually improve our CRM system (HubSpot).
You will also help to build and nurture relationships with new and existing industry partners, coordinate welcoming and well-run events, and create engaging promotional content and reports that support strategic engagement. By working in a helpful, responsive way with colleagues across teams such as Finance and Research Support, you will help ensure compliance and the smooth, coordinated delivery of R&D projects.
You will have a degree (or equivalent experience) and experience in business development or knowledge exchange. Confidence using CRM systems such as HubSpot, a strong attention to detail and process, and excellent communication and analytical skills are essential. You will be comfortable balancing multiple priorities, working autonomously when needed, and collaborating thoughtfully as part of a supportive team.
A postgraduate or business qualification, an understanding of the UK R&D funding landscape, and experience working with industry partners or using market research tools would be an advantage.
