About the role

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the lab of Dr Haoxi Wu. This exciting opportunity focuses on carrying out research on a discrete area of a project investigating how multi-subunit membrane protein complexes are assembled, trafficked, and degraded, with the goal of uncovering fundamental principles governing membrane protein homeostasis and informing new avenues for therapeutic intervention.

Working under the supervision of Dr Haoxi Wu, you will lead experimental research investigating key aspects of membrane protein homeostasis. You will design and execute independent experiments using approaches including cell biology, fluorescence microscopy, yeast genetics, proteomics, flow cytometry, and in vitro biochemistry. You will contribute to high‑quality publications and present your work at scientific meetings, while also supporting and mentoring junior members of the research group.

This full-time fixed-term post is funded by the Wellcome Trust for up to 3 years in the first instance.

The actual starting salary offered will be based on qualifications and relevant skills acquired and will also be determined by the funding available.

About you

You will hold (or be near completion of) a PhD/DPhil in Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology or a related field, with experience in cell biology and membrane trafficking pathways. You will bring strong analytical skills, a track record of research productivity, and the ability to communicate your work clearly in writing and presentations. Experience with GTPase biology, Rab proteins, or genetic manipulation in yeast or mammalian systems, as well as mentoring junior researchers, would be an advantage.
