About the Role
Applications are invited for the post of School Strategic Manager in the School of Mathematical Sciences.
This is a key leadership role within the School, working closely with the Faculty Director of Operations and in partnership with the Head of School to shape strategic direction and ensure effective operational delivery. The postholder will provide pivotal support for planning and implementation across finance, workforce and performance, using data-driven insight to support decision-making.
You will drive change initiatives, strengthen partnerships, and ensure excellent governance and compliance, while fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture across academic and professional services teams.
This role is hybrid, but it is expected that the postholder will be working on site for three days a week.
About You
Candidates will be experienced, inclusive and collaborative senior leaders with a strong track record in complex organisations, ideally with experience in the higher education sector. You will bring excellent influencing and analytical skills, sound financial acumen, and a commitment to fostering a positive culture that supports the success of staff and students, alongside the ability to translate strategy into effective operational delivery.
About the School
The School of Mathematical Sciences is one of five schools in the Faculty of Science and Engineering. The School is an exciting and dynamic environment, home to over 1400 taught students, c60 Postgraduate Research students and in excess of 90 teaching and research staff. The School of Mathematical Sciences is one of the largest in the UK and is positioned within the top 100 in the 2026 QS World University Rankings by Subject.
