The Dickson Poon School of Law (DPSoL) at King’s College London is one of the oldest law schools in England and is recognised globally as a centre of excellence in legal education and research. Based at Somerset House on the Strand Campus, the School sits at the heart of legal London, with close proximity to the UK’s courts, parliament, government departments, and global law firms. The Dickson Poon School of Law exists to be a global, interdisciplinary community committed to the discovery and sharing of real world legal insights. We are individually and collectively here because we believe in contributing to the advancement of law in a scholarly community.
King’s College London is seeking an outstanding academic and leader to serve as Executive Dean of The Dickson Poon School of Law, to lead the School at a pivotal moment for the sector and shape the future direction of one of the world’s leading law faculties. The role offers an exceptional opportunity to influence legal scholarship, education, and societal impact at national and international levels.
The Executive Dean will provide strategic leadership across research, education, people and culture, partnerships, and financial sustainability. As a member of the University Executive and Academic Board, the postholder will play a key role in the governance and leadership of King’s College London, contributing to the delivery of the University’s academic mission and Strategy 2030.
The successful candidate will bring a distinguished academic profile in law or adjacent disciplines, alongside a demonstrated commitment to inclusive leadership, collaboration, and excellence in research and education. They will act as an effective ambassador for the School, championing its work internally and externally, building strong engagement with government, the professions, industry, philanthropic partners, and international institutions. They will also inspire confidence across a diverse academic and professional services community while leading with integrity, transparency, and purpose in a rapidly evolving higher education landscape.
