The Department of Psychological Sciences and Health is looking to recruit a Research Associate (at Grade 7) to work alongside academic staff members on a new collaboration with NHS Lanarkshire funded through the Obesity Pathway Innovations Programme (OPIP), which aims to develop and evaluate a Once-for-Scotland Digital Weight Management Platform and Virtual Care Pathways.

The University of Strathclyde is the independent academic partner for this project and will contribute to the design and delivery of the research and evaluation programme for the new weight management and Anti-Obesity Medication (AOM) care pathways. This will include contributing towards the evaluation framework with NHS Lanarkshire, leading the evaluation of pathway implementation, objective health and lifestyle assessments, conducting advanced statistical, behavioural and systems modelling research and generating evidence through research to strengthen both local service delivery and wider national/international evidence on obesity care pathways.

The successful candidate will work within a multidisciplinary team, with the University of Strathclyde contribution led by Dr Alison Kirk. They will collaborate closely with Project Lead Jonathan Cavana and Evaluation Manager Dr Helen Alexander, as well as colleagues across the project team and within the Physical Activity for Health and Computer and Information Sciences research groups at the University of Strathclyde.

To be considered for the role, you must hold an undergraduate and postgraduate degree in a relevant discipline. You will have knowledge and experience of undertaking independent or supervised knowledge exchange and research work in the field of weight management and/or digital innovation. You will be able to plan and prioritise your own workload and be able to work within a team environment. You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to listen and engage and to present complex information in an accessible way to a range of audiences.
