Specific Purpose Whole Time Post

UCC wishes to appoint an academic to the role of Lecturer in English Literature reporting to the Head of the School of English and Digital Humanities. In addition to lecturing and researching in the area of English Literature, 1700-1830 the duties will include an ability to teach in an area of Critical Theory, Cultural Theory or Literary Theory as essential to the post.
The successful candidate will hold a PhD in English literature focusing on the period 1700-1830. They must be able to demonstrate excellence in teaching and research in the long eighteenth century and in theoretical approaches to literature and culture, a commitment to research-led teaching, and the ability to supervise undergraduate dissertations and postgraduate research projects.
In accordance with the University’s strategic objective as a research-led institution, the duties of all academic staff will include research, research-led teaching and contributions to the university, the discipline and the community. The academic staff member shall teach and examine, undertake administrative duties and carry out other duties appropriate to the post under the general direction of the Head of the School of English and Digital Humanities.

Appointment may be made on the Lecturer (Below the Bar) Salary Scale: €43,028 - €73,909 (Scale B) / €45,116 - €70,327 (Scale A).
Salary placement on appointment will be in accordance with public sector pay policy.
