Oxford Brookes is a leading modern institution with big ambitions. We are seeking to broaden access to an Oxford Brookes education, increase our global footprint, and further enhance our reputation as a leading global University.
The Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at Oxford Brookes has an international reputation for excellence, innovation and creativity. Our five Schools deliver a rich and diverse portfolio of taught courses and research programmes spanning from Arts, Business, Education, Humanities and Languages, Law, and Social Sciences.
The School of Arts at Oxford Brookes University brings together filmmakers, fine artists, graphic designers, musicians, photographers, journalists, publishers and beyond to form an inspiring, dynamic community of creatives.
We cultivate a collaborative and exploratory approach to what we do. We are home to a hub of research. From across art, music, publishing, digital media and film, our researchers are engaged in practice-based, digital, theoretical and archival research.
The School of Arts is proud to have a strong partnership with Modern Art Oxford, The Ultimate Picture Palace (UPP), Oxford Contemporary Music (OCM) and many other local and national creative industries partners. Our partnerships place an emphasis on diversity and access to participation and professional development opportunities within the creative sector.
The role
As our Technical Specialist in Film Production, you will provide technical support and specialist tuition to students and staff in the School of Arts, maintaining specialist equipment and spaces, and the highest standards of Health and Safety practice as a member of a collaborative and centralised school technical team.
You will focus on work in the Film Production and Digital Media Production areas while contributing to the overall technical operational needs of the School of Arts.
Key responsibilities include maintaining workshops, equipment, and technical stores; ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation, risk assessments, and COSHH requirements; supporting exhibitions, screenings, events, field trips, and other programme activities; and monitoring student engagement and achievement. The post holder will work closely with academic and technical colleagues to enhance the student experience, stay current with developments in their specialist field, and contribute to an inclusive and collaborative learning environment.
The role also requires participation in key University events and the flexibility to undertake other duties appropriate to the grade and level of responsibility.
You should have
HNC or equivalent level qualification, or experience in Film and or HETV Production. Excellent teamwork and communication skills. See the person specification and job description for full details.

Benefits
As an Oxford Brookes employee, you will enjoy a total of a minimum of 25 days holiday, rising with your service, plus 8 bank holidays and additional university concessionary days (normally 5 per year).
We encourage and support hybrid working where the role allows, and ensure that you have the necessary equipment to allow you to work flexibly.
We have an extremely competitive Local Government Pension Scheme with generous employer contributions, as well as providing all staff with access to an occupational health service, financial education, and a comprehensive employee assistance helpline.
