Do you have a passion for Higher Education teaching, curriculum development and educational innovation, and for supporting the next generation of biomedical scientists and healthcare innovators?

The Faculty of Medicine is seeking to appoint a Teaching Fellow to play a key role in the development and future delivery of a new MSci in Medical Science & Innovation. Working within a highly motivated team of educators, you will help create substantial elements of a brand-new undergraduate Master’s programme from the ground up, contributing to the design, development and evaluation of innovative teaching, assessment and digital learning resources informed by educational scholarship and evidence-based pedagogical approaches.

Alongside this work, you will contribute to teaching and assessment on our established BSc Medical Biosciences programme (BMB), helping to support a high-quality student experience across the Faculty’s undergraduate science programmes.

What you would be doing

A major component of the role will involve contributing to the development, implementation and evaluation of the new MSci Medical Science & Innovation programme launching in October 2027. Working collaboratively with academic, technical and professional services colleagues, you will play a key role in shaping the new curriculum by designing and developing modules, teaching sessions, learning activities, assessments and digital learning resources aligned with programme learning outcomes.

You will contribute to curriculum review and enhancement activities, applying evidence-informed educational approaches and educational scholarship to develop engaging learning experiences, including blended and flipped learning.

Biosciences modules where required to support programme delivery, and undertaking practical laboratory teaching where appropriate.

What we are looking for

  • A PhD in a relevant discipline (e.g. Biomedical Science, Biochemistry, Immunology, Genetics, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Bioengineering or related areas).
  • Recognition of teaching through Advance HE or a recognised Higher Education teaching qualification (e.g. PG Cert. HE)
  • Experience of teaching in Higher Education, in a laboratory and/or classroom setting
  • Experience of designing, developing or substantially revising teaching sessions, learning activities or assessment materials in Higher Education
  • Experience of contributing to the design, development or review of modules, assessments or curricula using evidence-informed educational approaches
  • Demonstrable application of evidence-informed pedagogical approaches, such as flipped learning, blended learning, active learning or team-based learning

What we can offer you:

  • The opportunity to develop your teaching portfolio across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at a world-leading institution and be part of our mission to use science for humanity by sharing your passion and inspiring the next generation.
  • Gain access to Imperial's top-tier Educational Development Unit, which offers a wide range of tailored educational development services to meet your needs.
  • Join a diverse and innovative learning and teaching community at an institution that values research-led educational provision.
  • Sector-leading salary and remuneration package (including 41 days off a year and generous pension schemes).
  • Be part of a diverse, inclusive and collaborative work culture with various staff networks and resources to support your personal and professional wellbeing.
