Annual Leave: 25 days plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our office between Christmas and New Year

Location: College Lane Campus, Hatfield

Main duties and responsibilities

You will provide executive support for the Dean and Deputy Dean of School which will include making hospitality arrangements, report compilation and spreadsheet and database work of a high standard and technical nature and manage all telephone calls, e-mails and other correspondence for the Dean and Deputy Dean of School, screening all queries and referring them on as appropriate. You will also support the Dean and Deputy Dean of School with the administration of a wide range of human resources activity including the maintenance and archiving of staff records and the processing of contractual changes.

The successful candidate will acquire knowledge of the University’s Finance Management Information system required to support school staff in its use to undertake relevant processes e.g. processing personal expense and pay claims. You will also monitor and maintain records relating to staff development, training and appraisal and administer activity relating to staff recruitment, induction, probation and the School organisational chart.

Skills and experience required

You will have appropriate proven administrative experience of working in a complex and dynamic organisation. Experience of working in Higher Education administration or in an Education setting is desirable. You will have excellent IT skills, specifically MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), with excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to display empathy to the needs of others. You will have excellent organisation, planning and administrative skills and excellent time-keeping skills with the ability to approach work methodically with a close attention to detail. The ability to work accurately under pressure to tight deadlines and the ability to be discreet and maintain strict confidentiality is essential.

Qualifications required

You will be educated with a minimum of A-levels or equivalent, or significant proven professional work experience.
