The Dean will provide strategic, academic, clinical and operational leadership for the establishment, development and long-term success of the Dental School and the delivery of its Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) programme.
You will lead the development of a high-quality, innovative and sustainable School that meets the requirements of the General Dental Council (GDC), aligns with University and Faculty strategic priorities, and responds to regional and national workforce needs.
You will be responsible for the successful design, implementation, accreditation, quality assurance and continuous enhancement of the BDS programme, while establishing a culture of excellence in education, scholarship, research, clinical partnership, innovation and civic engagement.
The Dean undertakes a key bi-directional leadership role, translating University and Faculty strategy into effective School delivery whilst securing the support, engagement and commitment of School staff and enabling innovation to flourish. You will foster a culture of collaboration, inclusion, accountability and continuous improvement across all aspects of School activity.
You will act as the principal academic leader and ambassador for the School, representing the University with regulators, healthcare providers, professional bodies, government agencies and external stakeholders. You will be a member of the Faculty Executive and will contribute to the development and delivery of Faculty strategy, investment decisions and policy.
This part-time (0.4 to 0.5 FTE) post is available from 1st October 2026 on an indefinite basis; the opportunity for parallel clinical duties (0.5-0.6 FTE) will be facilitated.
