Eligibility

Applications are invited for a NIHR Clinical Lecturer in Anaesthesia (Digital); at ST4 or ST5. Theme: Digital.

This post is for trainees who have full GMC registration at the time of application and a current licence at post start date. The trainee must have a minimum of 12 months remaining before they CCT.

This post is for the trainees who have completed a relevant higher degree that is PhD or MD (original research). You must have submitted your thesis by the time of application and been awarded your higher degree by the post start date. 

Entry grade

For ST4 entry, applicants must hold a current NTN in Anaesthetics and must be ST4 at post start date  

Or

Must have completed a separate standard clinical application to Anaesthetics ST4 national recruitment (called Clinical Benchmarking) and have attended an assessment/interview for Anaesthetics ST4 in 2026 and have been found appointable.

For ST5 entry, applicants must hold a current NTN in Anaesthetics and must be ST5 at post start date 

You must start at one of the entry grades above; a different grade is not permitted.

Clinical Benchmarking

Applicants without a National Training Number (NTN) in the GMC specialty training programme and level to which they are applying must have been found appointable at the speciality training interviews in the 2026 Recruitment Round 1/Round 2 (where applicable). If no national recruitment is available at the specialty training programme and level to which they are applying, applicants without a NTN are ineligible. Please visit the NHS website for more information.

Please note that if you have not been found appointable at the specialty recruitment in 2026, then you will not be eligible to proceed any further in the process.

Key Dates & Information

Interview date: Thursday 10 September 2026 - Thursday 17 September 2026 TBC (subject to change)

Interview venue: Remote interviews via Microsoft teams (access to a microphone, camera and good Wi-Fi connection is essential)  

Posts commence on: Wednesday 3 February 2027

Interview Process

Document checking: Please have ready one form of Photo Identification for document checking.

Length of interview: 30 minutes.  

Interview structure: A single station interview covering different criteria from the person specification.
