About the role

The Oncology Clinical Trials Office (OCTO), based in the Department of Oncology, develops and runs academic clinical trials and studies to the highest standards and is proactive in improving clinical trial procedures.

We are seeking a Trial Manager to join our team. Each Trial Manager is usually responsible for 1–2 trials or studies, coordinating activities to ensure on-time, on-target delivery of each in compliance with applicable policies and legislation. The role includes activities such as protocol writing; regulatory/ethics submissions; selecting, training and managing study sites; promoting recruitment of subjects; clinical data management; preparing and presenting progress reports to collaborators, funders and stakeholders; risk assessment; monitoring; and maintenance of Trial Master Files.

Trial Managers are usually supported by a Clinical Trial Administrator and work with other specialist teams within the unit. OCTO has an active portfolio of new and ongoing trials, with Trial Managers assigned to trials based on the needs of the portfolio and on individuals’ skills, experience and ambitions.

About you

You must have demonstrable experience of managing clinical trials (to include UK CTIMPs), working with both commercial and non-commercial funders and stakeholders. You should have a degree, or other relevant qualification, in a biomedical or associated subject. You’ll have project management skills, the ability to work on your own initiative, to problem solve and to manage the work of a professional team under management guidance.

The post is offered full-time, but part-time hours (a minimum of 0.8FTE, worked over at least four days per week) will be considered. Some flexibility for remote work may be considered.

The post is fixed term for three years and will be based in the Oncology Clinical Trials Office (OCTO), Level 2, Cancer & Haematology Centre, Churchill Hospital, Oxford, OX3 7LE.

An NHS Honorary Contract will be required.
