Job description:
The University of Sheffield is seeking a motivated and experienced Project Manager to support the implementation of the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025 (Martyn’s Law). This is an outstanding opportunity to play a key role in delivering a major compliance and cultural change programme that will help keep our students, staff and visitors safe.
Reporting to the Implementation Manager within Campus Services & Security, you will contribute and coordinate implementation activity across the University, ensuring projects, action plans and governance arrangements are effectively handled and delivered to demanding timescales. You will work closely with internal departments, senior stakeholders and external partners to embed proportionate protective security measures and develop a strong security culture across the institution.
We are seeking candidates with experience in project management, implementation delivery, security, emergency planning, emergency services or business continuity environments. As this role involves coordinating complex operational and compliance activity, you will also need knowledge of relevant legislation, risk management processes and stakeholder engagement.
Educated to A Level standard or equivalent, or holding a relevant project management qualification, you will possess excellent interpersonal, communication and analytical skills. You should also have experience of coordinating multi-disciplinary working groups and handling competing priorities within a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of physical security systems such as CCTV, access control and alarm systems would be helpful.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious and proactive individual looking to develop strategic project delivery experience within a large and complex organisation, while contributing directly to the safety and resilience of the University community.
If you are passionate about security, resilience and delivering meaningful organisational change, we would love to hear from you.
