The role as Lecturer in Thermofluids
(Computational Fluid Dynamics)
With a philosophy of ‘knowledge applied’, we place a strong emphasis on hands-on learning and all our engineering courses incorporate a significant portion of project-based learning at each level.
We are seeking an inspirational and driven Lecturer in Thermofluids (Computational Fluid Dynamics) who will deliver high-quality, inclusive and research-informed teaching in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer and, in particular, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), with responsibility for developing students’ simulation, modelling and engineering analysis skills using industry-standard CFD tools. The role includes curriculum development, assessment and project supervision, supporting student success and employability through applied and industry-relevant learning. The post holder will also undertake scholarship, research, innovation and knowledge exchange activities in CFD and thermofluid engineering, producing high-quality outputs, developing external partnerships and contributing to the advancement of digital engineering solutions for complex flow, thermal and energy systems.
Through our Research, Innovation and Knowledge Exchange (RIKE) planning process the university provides Teaching and Scholarship staff with the ability to apply for additional time to carry out RIKE activity, beyond time for academic development and research and scholarly activity. The additional allocation of hours is determined by quality thresholds and aligned to agreed objectives, and reflected in academic work planning, Personal Development Review and academic development processes. Staff whose work is included in the university's submission to the Research Evaluation Framework (REF) would normally be expected to follow this route.
