Research Assistant

About the Role
The Linguistics Department in the School of the Arts (STA) is looking to appoint two Research Assistants to work closely with Dr Chantal Gratton. The post-holders will undertake research activities in collaboration with and under the supervision of Dr Chantal Gratton (STA), at Queen Mary University of London, to fulfil the objectives of the research project.

This is a fixed-term and part-time post (0.2 FTE, 7 hours each per research assistant) available due to research grant funding, for 6 months from 01 September 2026 to 28 February 2027.

About You
You must have, or be eminently completing, an MA in Linguistics, or equivalent experience. You must have prior experience of education or experience in sociolinguistic research, data processing and analysis, and writing up research results. You should have excellent communication and organisational skills and maintain a high level of accuracy in your work. You should be able to work both independently and as part of a team and possess strong interpersonal skills to deal professionally with people at all levels.

The post is part-time (7 hours/week) for 6 months, with an expected start of 01 September 2026 to 28 February 2027 and available due to research funding. The salary will be £38,419 to £39,022 per annum pro-rata, inclusive of London allowance.
