About the Role
The postholder will develop phase-change material platforms for nanophotonic and neuromorphic computing applications, integrating material physics with device architectures.
About You
You will hold a PhD in Materials Science, Photonics, Applied Physics, Electronic Engineering, or a related discipline. You will have experience working with phase-change materials such as GST and other chalcogenides, alongside a strong background in nanophotonics or integrated photonics. You will demonstrate a solid understanding of device physics, including switching dynamics, endurance, and energy efficiency, with hands-on experience in nano-device fabrication and characterisation. Knowledge of neuromorphic or non-von Neumann device concepts will be expected.
You will have a strong publication record in high-quality journals and the ability to bridge materials science, device physics, and system-level applications. Experience designing and operating optical and electrical measurement setups will be essential.
You will possess strong analytical and modelling skills and thrive in interdisciplinary environments spanning materials, photonics, and AI. Experience integrating phase-change materials with silicon photonics, working on memristive devices, ML-based optimisation, wafer-scale fabrication, or industrial collaboration will be advantageous.
