Flexible Working

  • We will consider applications for employment on a part-time basis. In particular, we welcome applications from candidates seeking a minimum of 21.9 hours per week (0.6 FTE).

This is an opportunity to take a leading operational role within the University’s Employee Mobility and Immigration Services Team, helping to deliver a high-quality, compliant and supportive immigration service for colleagues from across the world.

As Immigration Services Officer, you will provide specialist advice across sponsored visa routes, other UK work visas, visitor routes and right to work requirements. You will manage complex and sensitive cases, oversee sponsorship compliance and act as the first point of escalation for Immigration Coordinators and University departments. You will also supervise and develop members of the team, providing technical guidance, quality assurance and support with workload management.

The role combines detailed casework with broader responsibility for service quality and continuous improvement. You will help ensure that the University’s records and processes remain accurate, consistent and ready for audit, while identifying opportunities to improve guidance, systems and ways of working. You will work closely with colleagues across the People Team and the wider University, translating complex immigration requirements into clear and practical advice.

About You

You will bring strong working knowledge of UK immigration sponsorship and right to work requirements, including experience of Skilled Worker and related visa routes. You will be confident interpreting immigration rules and applying them consistently, while recognising when cases require careful judgement or escalation.

You will have experience managing complex, sensitive or high-risk cases within a regulated environment and will be comfortable balancing service needs with legal and compliance responsibilities. Strong attention to detail will be essential, alongside the ability to maintain accurate, auditable records and manage competing deadlines.

You will also be an effective and supportive team leader, able to supervise colleagues, provide technical guidance and promote consistent standards across the service. Your communication skills will enable you to explain complex requirements clearly and provide practical, accurate advice to colleagues and stakeholders at all levels.

We are looking for someone who combines technical expertise with sound judgement, a collaborative approach and a commitment to delivering an approachable and responsive service. You will be motivated to improve processes, strengthen compliance and use systems and technology effectively to enhance the experience of both colleagues and service users.
