Research Fellow

The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) is one of the world’s leading public health universities. We are seeking to appoint a Research Fellow to support the delivery of two studies evaluating different malaria vector control tools. The first study aims to evaluate a DEET-based topical repellent in an individually randomized study in a moderate-high malaria transmission setting in Cote d’Ivoire. The second study will evaluate small-scale releases of genetically modified Anopheles Stephensi mosquitoes in a low transmission setting in Djibouti. This study will involve a test-negative design, as well as interrupted time series analysis. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of high-profile research which could help define future malaria control policy. 

The post holder will support the epidemiological and statistical components of the project- including helping design data collection tools, planning and implementing fieldwork, writing statistical analysis plans and performing data analysis. Candidates need to have strong communication skills in English and French. The post will involve travel, and potentially extended stays, to each study site. 

The post-holder must have a postgraduate degree, ideally a doctoral degree, in a relevant topic and excellent skills using statistical software such as Stata or R. Further particulars are included in the job description.   

The post is full-time 35 hours per week, 1.0 FTE and fixed-term until 30^th June 2028. The post is funded by multiple funders and is available immediately.  

The salary will be on the LSHTM salary scale, Grade 6 in the range £45,728 - £51,872 per annum pro rata (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to LSHTM terms and conditions of service.  Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part-time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at LSHTM.
