About the Role
We are seeking a motivated researcher to join a programme investigating how the tumour microenvironment shapes metastatic progression. The role focuses on understanding how anti-cancer therapies drive systemic immune changes and influence metastatic outgrowth. The postholder will design and perform experimental studies, analyse data, and contribute to publications. Working within a collaborative research environment, the successful candidate will contribute to ongoing projects and support students and team activities.
About You
You will hold a PhD in cancer biology, immunology, or a related discipline, or be near to completion of your PhD. You will have experience in experimental laboratory research, including data generation and analysis, with strong organisational and record-keeping skills. Familiarity with tumour biology, immune profiling, and preclinical models is desirable. The successful candidate will be highly motivated, able to work both independently and collaboratively, and committed to delivering high-quality research and publications.
About the Institute
The Barts Cancer Institute (BCI) is a Cancer Research UK Centre of Excellence whose work aims to transform the lives of those with and at risk of cancer through innovative research in the laboratory, in patients and in populations. It is one of six institutes within The Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry (FMD) BCI is internationally renowned in many areas of cancer research and it combines ground-breaking basic research with the expertise of clinicians and clinician scientists from the Centre for Experimental Cancer Medicine and the Barts NHS Trust to achieve improvements in cancer patient care. BCI is also a partner in the CRUK City of London Major Centre (together with UCL, Kings and the Francis Crick Institute) which is a Centre of Excellence in Biotherapeutics. BCI is committed in supporting and developing future cancer researchers through its extensive postgraduate training.

The post is based at the Charterhouse Square Campus in London. It is full time (35 hours per week), fixed term appointment for 18 months, with an expected start date of November 2026. The starting salary will be Grade 4, SP 26-33 in the range of £39,022 - £46,618 per annum (pro-rata), inclusive of London Allowance.
