The Oxford Centre for Emerging Minds Research (OCEMR) is a newly funded research centre that has been established to conduct world class research that contributes to a world where differences between children and young people are understood and accepted, strengths are capitalised on, and mental health difficulties are prevented or addressed early in life.    

This is a new key role within the communications and engagement team at OCEMR that that works across the Centre, supporting the WISDOM Schools Research Network, the Parent Carer Research Network, and our wider work to engage and involve children, young people and their families. In this post, you will work closely with the Research Networks Manager and interact daily with researchers, school leaders and teachers, parents and carers, and other key stakeholders to support the effective coordination and operation of the Centre's activities. 

The post is available on a flexible hybrid basis. The minimum on-site time is 3 days/week for a full-time post.

The role requires some flexibility in working hours to support community engagement activities outside of core working hours. This may include up to four weekday evenings per month (finishing by 9:00pm) and occasional early morning and weekend work for activities such as workshops, public engagement, and network promotion events. Any work outside of core hours will be planned with a minimum of 2 weeks' notice.

About the Role

The post is funded until 30 September 2030 and is based in the Department of Experimental Psychology based at the Life and Mind Building.

You will contribute to the planning and delivery of research engagement activities, events and projects designed to involve and engage children, young people and their families in line with OCEMR’s strategy. You will develop positive and supportive relationships with participants, advisors and community partners. You will act as a first point of contact for general enquiries from a range of stakeholders and support the organisation and delivery of in-person and online engagement activities, meetings and events.

About You

You will have excellent written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, accurate and engaging content for a range of audiences. You will have strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, including an engaging, appropriate and professional approach when working with children, young people and other stakeholders. You will have excellent organisational skills and attention to detail to deliver high-quality work and consistently meet deadlines and priorities, in a fast-paced dynamic environment. Experience of working or volunteering with children and young people is desirable.
