About the role

As a Lecturer in Specialist Teaching and Assessment for Literacy-Based Difficulties (Dyslexia), you will plan, teach and assess on our PGCert Specialist Teaching and Assessment for Literacy-Based Difficulties (Dyslexia) programme. You will also contribute specialist teaching across Faculty programmes in relation to Dyslexia and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), alongside external CPD and knowledge exchange activities.

You will contribute to high-quality teaching, supervision and assessment, supporting an excellent student experience and graduate outcomes. You will also contribute to the research activities of a Faculty Research Unit and, where appropriate, engage with research centres and supervise postgraduate students.

The role also offers opportunities to contribute to partnership working, knowledge exchange and CPD aligned with Faculty priorities.

About you

You will hold current professional membership and an Assessment Practising Certificate (APC) from the British Dyslexia Association, The Dyslexia Guild or PATOSS.

You will have significant experience of supporting learners with specific learning difficulties, particularly dyslexia, and experience of leading training and accreditation for professionals. You will demonstrate a strong track record in learning and teaching, student experience and improving student outcomes, alongside academic leadership and collaborative working skills.

You will have an up-to-date understanding of policy and practice relating to dyslexia and a strong commitment to professional standards. Applicants with additional current qualifications in dyscalculia, such as an APC with a Dyscalculia/Maths Difficulties remit, are particularly welcomed.

A clear commitment to inclusive, student-centred practice and academic quality is essential.

The successful applicant will be required to undertake an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check as a condition of employment.
