The University of Surrey is a global community of ideas and people, dedicated to life-changing education and research.
We are ambitious and have a bold vision of what we want to achieve - shaping ourselves into one of the best universities in the world, which we are achieving through the talents and endeavour of every employee.
Our culture empowers people to achieve this aim and to collectively, and individually, make a real difference.
The role
The School of Engineering is looking to recruit a full-time member of academic staff to support its research and teaching in Aerospace Engineering. The School benefits from extensive national and international collaboration, excellent facilities, and strong links with industry.
Surrey has long-standing expertise in aerospace engineering, focusing on fundamental fluid dynamics, propulsion, vehicle control and sustainable transport technologies. Our researchers solve real-world problems ranging from flows in gas turbine engines to air pollution in cities. We have both experimental (e.g. wind tunnels) and computational facilities.
The successful applicant will be expected to teach on our undergraduate programme in Aerospace Engineering. This is a well-established programme which attracts high calibre students. An ability and enthusiasm for delivering a high-quality student experience are essential and experience in and enthusiasm for supervising design projects would be welcome. Chartered Engineer status would also be desirable.
The School holds an Athena Swan Bronze Award and is committed to building a culturally diverse organization.
What we can offer
In addition to salary, we offer a generous annual leave entitlement of 30 days holiday plus seven university closure days and eight bank holidays, a generous pension, access to world-class leisure facilities on campus, a range of travel schemes, and supportive family friendly benefits including an excellent on-site nursery.
