The School of Built Environment, Engineering and Computing at Leeds Beckett University brings together a range of related sectors from built environment and construction; human and natural environments; engineering industries; and computing and IT industries in a dynamic and vibrant setting, with a rapidly growing student cohort. The Engineering Subject Area operates across both the university’s campuses and offers a range of programmes including civil engineering; building services engineering; electronic and electrical engineering; robotics and automation; and engineering management. Courses are industry linked and offered in a variety of modes from full time study, part time study, distance learning options and Degree Apprenticeship schemes. The School also runs franchised programmes with overseas partners in Hong Kong and Nepal.
We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Electrical and Electronics Engineering with expertise in control and sustainability. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced academic or industry professional looking to contribute to the development and delivery of innovative teaching and research in a dynamic and growing department.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting our Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Robotics & Automation and Building Services Engineering programmes, including involvement in the design, development, and delivery of modules, supervision of student projects, and contributing to the academic leadership of the department.
The successful candidates should demonstrate a commitment to high-quality teaching, research and leadership in the Electrical and Electronic Engineering and related sub-disciplines at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
We welcome applicants with a traditional PhD degree who can demonstrate extensive knowledge in the teaching, learning and research areas described. Applications are also invited from those with a background in professional electronic and/or electrical engineering practice who wish to make the transition to an academic teaching and learning environment. Shortlisted candidates with this background should be able to demonstrate an aptitude for teaching and/or research capability as part of the application process. Professional registration with the Engineering Council at IEng or CEng, or working towards Professional registration, and membership of a relevant engineering institution is preferred.
The Engineering Subject Area expects the successful applicants to add to, and develop the delivery of the Electrical and Electronic Engineering courses at all levels and enhance the reputation of the School's provision in this increasingly important profession. We are looking for an innovative approach to teaching with extensive knowledge and drive to engage students in the area of Electrical and Electronic Engineering to help the school increase student satisfaction of the taught courses and the progression of our students.
