Lecturer in Geography and Environmental Science (Teaching & Scholarship)

About the Role

We are seeking a Lecturer in Physical Geography and Environmental Science on a one-year fixed term teaching and scholarship contract. This post entails teaching undergraduate and postgraduate modules in physical geography and environmental science to a diverse cohort of domestic and international students. You will contribute to the intellectual life of the School and to an outstanding student education and experience through curriculum development and delivery of thematic, field-based and methodological teaching, alongside dissertation supervision and academic advising.

About You

You will have a PhD in Geography, Environmental Science or equivalent. You will have a track record of high-quality educational delivery, understanding of student support needs, effective communication skills, and a clear commitment to delivering an outstanding student experience.  

About the Department

The Department is one of the UK’s leading centres for the research and teaching of Geography and Environmental Science. It was ranked in the top 20 overall among UK higher education institutions in the 2022 REF. It was ranked 1st in the Russell Group for learning opportunities, assessment and feedback, academic support, organisation and management, and student voice in the 2026 NSS (Geography, Earth and Environmental Studies).

The post is based at the Mile End Campus It is full time fixed term appointment for one year, with an expected start date of 11th January 2027. The salary will be Grade 5, £51,755 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance. (Please note negotiation outside of this salary is not possible).
