Are you a confident B2B sales professional who enjoys building relationships, generating new business and turning conversations into opportunities?
Would you like to join a small, friendly and ambitious team where you can make a real impact?
The University of Buckingham is looking for a Business Development Manager (Apprenticeships) to help us continue to grow our apprenticeship provision.
About the role
Our apprenticeship portfolio is growing, and we are looking for someone who can help us take the next step.
Working as part of our small and supportive Apprenticeships Hub, you will take the lead on business development activity, building relationships with employers locally and nationally and helping organisations understand how apprenticeships can support their workforce and skills needs.
This is a proactive role. You will be comfortable picking up the phone, approaching new organisations, developing leads and building long-term relationships with employers and key decision-makers.
You will also help us strengthen our digital presence, including managing our Apprenticeships LinkedIn page and creating engaging content that showcases our programmes, events, employer partnerships and apprentice successes.
No two days are likely to be the same. You could be speaking to a new employer, attending a networking event, delivering a webinar, developing a proposal, working on a tender or creating a LinkedIn campaign to promote one of our apprenticeship programmes.
What will you be doing?
• Generate new apprenticeship business through proactive B2B sales and employer engagement, including telephone prospecting and cold calling.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with employers, HR professionals, training managers and other key decision-makers.
• Identify employer workforce needs and match these with appropriate apprenticeship opportunities.
• Develop a strong pipeline of employers and apprenticeship opportunities to support our growing portfolio.
• Manage and develop our Apprenticeships LinkedIn presence, creating regular, engaging content to promote programmes and successes.
• Organise and support employer and applicant webinars and apprenticeship taster events.
• Attend networking events, exhibitions, conferences and employer forums to represent the University and develop new business.
• Confidently present at webinars, employer briefings and events.
• Work closely with academic colleagues and Programme Directors to develop employer relationships and promote apprenticeship programmes.
• Support marketing campaigns and work within an agreed apprenticeship marketing budget.
• Identify and co-ordinate bids and tender opportunities.
• Keep accurate records of employer engagement and opportunities through our CRM systems.
• Carry out market research to identify emerging skills needs and opportunities for new apprenticeship provision.
The closing date for applications is the 15th October, and it is anticipated that interviews will be held w/commencing 19th October or w/commencing 2nd November.
Please note: if successful, any offer is subject to standard checks, including qualifications, eligibility to work in the UK on a permanent basis and DBS (if applicable)
