UCL’s Academic Services department is responsible for a range of key operations, including: academic regulations; quality review processes; student statistical data; assessment operations and student records.

This role will sit within the central Academic Policy and Quality Assurance team, reporting to the Head of Academic Policy and Quality Assurance, managing Degree Apprenticeship policy, quality assurance and compliance processes in particular and providing expertise to the university in these areas. The post holder will also support other areas of the Academic Policy and Quality Assurance team’s work as required.

The post holder will be expected to be the main advisor at UCL for internal and external stakeholders in relation to Degree Apprenticeship provision at UCL. You will be working closely with other professional services teams, academic departments and faculties to ensure that UCL is compliant with the relevant regulatory and quality assurance requirements.

You will be expected to develop and maintain UCL’s regulations relating to Degree Apprenticeships ensuring compliance with national regulatory requirements. You will be leading on the operational implementation and development of Degree Apprenticeship provision in liaison with respective policy owners, while leading on risk and management in liaison with UCL’s Planning Team and will be the provider of expert advice to departments and relevant internal and external stakeholders.

A key part of this role is to facilitate any internal audits, reviews or inspections of Degree Apprenticeship provision, including those undertaken by ESFA and Ofsted. You will also be expected to keep abreast of national and sector developments relating to the regulation of degree apprenticeships, attending external briefings and events and participating in relevant networks.

This is an exciting role for UCL where the post holder will have the opportunity to shape how apprenticeships are implemented and maintained at UCL.

We are looking for a candidate with expertise in the management and regulatory framework of Degree Apprenticeships who has a full understanding of the operational management and compliance requirements.

You should possess excellent interpersonal skills, both spoken and written, with the ability to liaise and negotiate with colleagues throughout the institution and beyond working in a collaborative way in a complex, large institution. You will have proven experience in being able to prioritise your own workload and to co-ordinate the work of others to meet deadlines. You will be an enthusiastic leader, with the ability to develop and motivate others.
