A Laboratory Technician/Team leader is required to join a team in the Centre for Environmental and Preventive Medicine to organise the day to day work of sample reception. This will entail ensuring timely receipt, organisation and processing of blood samples (which includes automated next generation sequencing (NGS) to detect foetal aneuploidies in maternal plasma and purification of DNA to make DNA libraries) and ensure the sample reception technicians receive appropriate training and skills updates. This will be in addition to the routine work of data entry, maintaining stock control and participating in regular laboratory audits and automated immunoassay to measure biochemical markers in maternal serum.

The successful candidate will be appointed full-time for 1 year in the first instance. The salary will be in the range £26,717 - 32,956 (including London weighting). Working hours will usually be 9am to 5pm, although some flexibility may be required. Benefits includes 30 days annual leave, pension scheme and an interest free season ticket loan.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
