The University of Gloucestershire is looking to appoint a new member of staff in the Technical and Applied Computing subject area to join our dynamic, successful and expanding community. Located at the beautiful Park Campus in Cheltenham, the University is investing heavily in staff and facilities. Student applications are rising rapidly, NSS scores are over 90% and last year we opened our new state of the art Computing labs.
The Technical and Applied Computing subject area is part of the University of Gloucestershire’s School of Business & Technology which is developing its range of courses and we have an opportunity for a talented individual with a real flair for teaching and research to join the team. A key focus for the University is preparing students for their future career.
We are looking for applications from Cyber Security specialists who will ideally have experience of teaching in Higher Education and have an interest in research and development in Cyber Security or a related area. The applicant should have technical and research skills in cyber security and have experience of ethical hacking, network security or the security of IoT. The appointee will support delivering a range of modules at undergraduate and postgraduate level. Applicants must also have a demonstrable high level of technical skills and excellence in the use of Windows and Linux-based operating systems. Recent industry knowledge and an enthusiasmto promote exciting digital learning experiences in the classroom would be an advantage. The appointee will need to have excellent communication skills and demonstrable success when working in a team environment.
Lecturer and Senior Lecturer posts are similar in that they involve a mix of teaching, research, knowledge exchange, commercial work and educational management. A Senior Lecturer post is progressively differentiated from the Lecturer grade by the requirement to engage in higher levels of educational management, research and/or income generating activity. Senior Lecturer posts will require significant responsibility in areas including course leadership, quality assurance, project management, staff development, Knowledge Exchange work, academic development, external relations, marketing, student recruitment, research and commercial business development.
