The University of York is a member of the Russell Group of research-intensive UK universities. The University’s Department of Theatre, Film and Television was founded in 2006, and moved into a superb, £30m purpose-designed facility in 2010.
We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Sound Production to start 1 September 2019. You should have a PhD in a relevant subject or equivalent professional experience and have experience of teaching sound for film, television at HE level. We are particularly seeking someone with knowledge and experience in production sound recording techniques for location-based film and television and studio television and live recording.
We are seeking an excellent individual who has the ambition to make an impact in the field, can demonstrate international research potential, and who can inspire students through innovative teaching, contributing to programmes in film and television production. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated expertise in sound production for film and television. This should include experience in one or more of the following areas: production sound recording for location-based film and television, production sound for studio television and live recording; sound design for film and television, and/or games. Experience in related audio postproduction areas is also desirable. They will have wide-ranging interests in film, television and interactive media and will also be able to relate to industry professionals in a variety of contexts. They will play a significant role in the delivery and assessment of sound-related content for modules on the BSc in Film and Television Production and the MA/MSc programmes in Film and Television Production. They will also be involved in the supervision of students and as well as undertaking administrative responsibilities in the Department.
Our undergraduate degree programmes include a BSc in Film and Television Production, a BSc in Interactive Media and a BA in Theatre: Writing, Directing and Performance as well as a range of masters programmes in Film and Television Production and Theatre and Masters by Research and PhD programmes, including projects by creative practice. We also have a strong research culture and extensive connections with industry through knowledge exchange and other initiatives.
This role can be full time or flexible working including job sharing will be considered. Minimum of 29.6 hours (80% FTE) should candidates require sponsorship.
