Be part of the extraordinary, join us

Do you want to join our inclusive and dynamic research environment and deliver exceptional research that transforms lives in the UK and across the world?

Our fellowship schemes deliver truly interdisciplinary research that discovers the best solutions to today’s complex global problems.  As a fellow, you will be part of our diverse, thriving community of outstanding early career researchers, and will join a University with an international reputation for transformative discoveries.

We recognise that exceptional researchers come from a diverse range of backgrounds and career paths and we embrace diversity across our research community.

We have two parallel schemes, offering the same package of support:

  • Anne McLaren Fellowships, aimed at outstanding female postdoctoral researchers in science, technology, engineering, and medicine at the early stage of their academic careers, who are typically under-represented in these subjects, and wish to establish a research career in the UK.
  • Nottingham Research Fellowships, aimed at outstanding postdoctoral researchers at the early stage of their academic careers in all academic disciplines represented at the University.

We welcome applications from researchers at all stages of postdoctoral training, those wishing to establish a research career in the UK, and those wishing to work part- time to meet personal responsibilities.

We offer:

Excellent support to enable you to reach your research ambitions, including:

  • Three years’ independent research funding, covering salary costs at c.£40,000-£49,000
  • The link to a permanent academic post, subject to performance
  • Additional funding for research expenses totalling £75,000
  • Childcare costs of up to £5,000 per annum
  • Access to mentoring, coaching, leadership and career development, and networking with the wider academic community

Eligibility: Our fellowships are primarily aimed at early career researchers and candidates must have been awarded their PhD. We will accept applications from candidates later in postdoctoral training and ensure that varied career paths are taken into account during fellow recruitment. Candidates are assessed on their quality, potential, trajectory and track record, relative to their career stage.
