Contract Type

Permanent, subject to a continuing funding stream

Probation Period

Six months

Salary Range

Pay spine 52 – 60 on a pro rata basis

(Pay spine 52 = £45,361 FTE - 50% = £23,134)

(Pay spine 60 = £57,418 FTE - 50% = £29,283)

Full time/part time

Part time, 50% full time equivalent based on a 37.5 hour week

Hours of Work

19 hours per week Monday to Friday.  Flexible working arrangements including a blended approach of onsite and remote working will be available

Annual Leave

Annual paid leave of 25 days plus public holidays.   Pro rata for part time members of staff

Pension Eligibility

The College offers membership of a contributory pension scheme.  Subject to your age and earnings level, you may be eligible for auto-enrolment into the scheme, and you have the right to opt out at any time


As a result of early successes, DEFI is now able to recruit an experienced Manager to work alongside the Director and new Head of Research in expanding the initiative. They will be responsible for supervising the current DEFI team which includes a Communications Officer and Project Coordinator/Membership and Communities Manager.

The role of the postholder is to work alongside the Director in envisioning, planning and implementing strategic direction as well as carrying out the high-level day to day running of the Initiative.  Whilst the Director will continue to provide thought leadership, the postholder will provide practical leadership and operational guidance to the current hardworking, multitasking DEFI team (communications and project coordinator/relationship managers).  Additionally, the postholder will have budgetary responsibility and work with the Hughes Hall Development Director in identifying and attracting additional funding to support the growth of DEFI.  The postholder will be a key member of the DEFI Steering Group and answerable, with the director, to the DEFI Oversight Committee which is part of the Hughes Hall Governing Board.

Based in the Digital Education Futures Initiative at the Hughes Hall Bridge Centre for research and practice, you and your small team will work to grow DEFI.

  • Ability to influence stakeholders and motivate collaborators for strong engagement and appropriate levels of contribution.
  • Able to successfully bring others on a journey of change.
