The Yusuf Hamied Department of Chemistry seeks to appoint as soon as possible a talented and ambitious individual to a University Lectureship in chemical biology. The post is equivalent to the rank of Assistant Professor in the USA and, subject to satisfactory completion of the probationary period, leads to a tenured position as Associate Professor. The University has a merit-based promotions procedure leading to Professor (Grade 11, formerly Reader) and Professor (Grade 12, equivalent to Full Professor).
We are looking for outstanding candidates whose research interests will strengthen the current profile of chemical biology research in the Department and who will also complement clinical and biological research in the University through collaboration.
The successful applicant will have an excellent record of research in chemical biology, and will be expected to develop an ambitious, high quality and externally-funded research programme at an international level. Interdisciplinary and collaborative research is strongly encouraged across the university and its associated institutes, particularly in clinical medicine.
Candidates must demonstrate a firm commitment to teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels within the Department, and will be expected to contribute to and develop courses within the general area of organic chemistry and chemical biology, covering both specialised and core material.
Applicants must have a PhD degree in a relevant subject, post-doctoral experience, and strong evidence of research excellence. University Lecturers are expected to develop and lead their own research programmes, so must be able to demonstrate a significant degree of independence.
Information about the Department's research and teaching activities is available on the Department's website (http://www.ch.cam.ac.uk). Informal enquiries about the positions can be made to Dr James Keeler, Head of Department (email: email@example.com).
