Applications are welcomed for an Imaging Facility Manager to join the MRC Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine (WIMM).

Optical imaging and image analysis are integral and key scientific activities throughout the MRC WIMM, and the successful and smooth running of the core Facility is vital for scientific success. Interacting with senior scientists on a day-to-day basis you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Facility; training staff, students and visitors in use of the imaging equipment; providing users with expert advice and assistance and where applicable suggesting and / or developing alternative methodologies.

You will have a PhD or a degree in a relevant scientific discipline and extensive experience in optical microscopy, including a wide range of advanced techniques such as live cell imaging, confocal, TIRF, FRAP, FRET and super-resolution techniques. You will have experience of managing a core Facility, including problem solving skills, experience of managing budgets, tendering processes, and maintenance contract negotiation. A fundamental understanding of both physics and biology and experience in computing, especially with regards to image analysis, are also essential.

The post is available fixed-term until 31 March 2027, funded by the Medical Research Council.
