This is an opportunity to be part of the Global Partnerships team within UCL Global Engagement (GE). The postholder will proactively lead the development of ‘partnerships of equivalence’ for UCL in East Asia; be a source of advice and expertise on this region; and promote the services GE can offer to the academic community, facilitating their partnerships across the region. The post holder will also lead on strengthening networks and support for academics collaborating in the region.
The Senior Partnership Manager (East Asia) works on a wide range of activities with partners in China, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, South Korea. Partnership initiatives range from support for doctoral students and postdocs, supporting the development of collaborative education programmes, research facilitation events, academic seed funding and much more. The post-holder will work with the Pro-Vice-Provost (East Asia), and colleagues from across the Office of the Vice-Provost (Research, Innovation and Global Engagement) and the broader UCL community, to help inform UCL’s strategic approach towards East Asia.
This challenging and rewarding role is likely to appeal to someone with a strong interest in the internationalisation of higher education, particularly within the context of East Asia. The role will provide the post holder significant opportunities to further develop their existing interests and expertise on East Asia. The successful candidate will marshal a dedicated budget to play a major role in directing and advancing UCL’s strategy in the region. The successful candidate will enjoy working within a fast-paced team, fostering effective networks and partnerships to achieve business objectives within established frameworks. UCL Global Engagement (GE) helps put UCL's knowledge and ideas to work in the world, using our expertise to facilitate and strengthen new and existing collaborations. GE comprises a high-performing team of professionals with experience in international partnerships and relationship management, communications, strategic planning and operations.

RIGE is dedicated to supporting people, crossing boundaries and enabling responsible impact – for the greater good, locally, nationally and internationally.
A good undergraduate degree is required. This role also requires an individual who has a broad knowledge of issues relating to the internationalisation of higher education and experience of developing successful international partnerships, particularly as they relate to East Asia. They will need to have experience of working independently and proactively to set up and manage complex projects or programmes. Excellent interpersonal skills, both written and oral are essential. Experience of working in East Asia, or on projects related to the region or with partners from the region is desirable.
