We’re very excited to be developing our outward mobility programme, which will allow more students to have an opportunity to study and work abroad during their time at University.  We have received funding from the government’s Turing Scheme to be able to support this activity and to develop and deliver our new programme. 

Your role will be working in the Careers and Employability team, tasked with ensuring that as many students as possible are able to access funding to enable them to undertake life changing international experiences.  You will work with colleagues across the university who are already involved in supporting students to study and work abroad, but will also be developing new ways of working that will enhance our current offer and in particular give new opportunities to students from underrepresented groups.

You will be expected to deliver pre-departure preparation sessions to students as well as supporting students with any issues that arise while they are overseas.  This means you will need to be confident delivering presentations (both in person and online) and able to find solutions to problems working with colleagues in the university.  In addition to which, to be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Experience of working with students in a higher education environment or a demonstrable understanding of student needs is important, as is an understanding of and ability to mitigate against the potential risks for students traveling overseas on placements. 
  • Strong organisational skills and great communication.  
  • Initiative to set up procedures for sourcing suitable overseas opportunities, developing an effective and impartial application process as well as overseeing administration of funding.  
  • The ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines, and be self-motivated to meet individual and team objectives.

This is a full-time fixed term post until 31st August 2022 in the first instance.
