This is a fantastic opportunity to join the dynamic and expanding Careers & Employability Service at Kingston University in an exciting and varied role. As a Careers Adviser for students in the faculty of Business and Social Sciences (with a focus on Law, Social and Behavioural Sciences) you will work with students to provide tailored information, advice and guidance across a range of employability topics to students across all study levels. Within this role you will work with students on a 1-2-1 basis, deliver workshops and webinars and provide e-guidance to ensure Kingston students are successfully able to gain professional experiences during their studies, but also go on to successful graduate level outcomes. As part of the Careers and Employability Service you’ll also have the opportunities to get involved in the range of student-facing activity we currently offer, including employer-facing activity and projects.
You will work under an annualised hours scheme with a basic working week of 37 hours excluding lunch breaks. Working hours are typically 8.00-9am to 4.30-5.30pm with occasional evening and weekends, however adjustments to the standard working pattern may be discussed with line management. Flexible working will be possible with an expectation of 3 days minimum on campus during term time.
You will have extensive experience working with students in a higher education careers service setting, ideally holding a guidance qualification. The Careers & Employability Service are committed to delivering the highest levels of customer service to the diverse range of students we work with every day, therefore we are looking for someone who can demonstrate a dedication to ensuring students have a positive experience in their interactions with the service. Communication between different stakeholders is a key aspect of this role, therefore you must have strong verbal and written communication skill with the ability to tailor to a range of audiences. In order to deliver high quality support students, strong labour market knowledge is required along with the proactivity to constantly develop knowledge in this area. You must have strong IT skills, ideally with experience working with career service management systems.
This is a full time permanent position with a starting salary of £34,809 per annum.
Interviews are expected to be held on Tuesday 21 December 2021.
