Main duties and responsibilities

The Careers & Employment Service is seeking a proactive candidate to join our forward looking, quality accredited service to work as part of an award-winning team providing a wide range of support for students and graduates. The role has specific responsibility for working with students undertaking placement opportunities during their degree course and the postholder will act in a senior officer capacity within the Careers and Employment officer team to assist with more complex placement queries supporting the Team Leader, Careers and Employment (CE) team and the wider UH community.

The successful candidate will deal with student, academic and employer enquiries for all aspects of placement activity including risk assessments and associated administration, alongside working proactively to encourage take up of placements through activities such as phoning or emailing. The role will support students and graduates with the development of CVs, covering letters, general recruitment processes and directing them to further sources of help within the wider team. The successful candidate will also work closely with the Team Leader on a range of operational placement tasks.

The role contributes to a range of innovative additional services within the Careers & Employment Service, to ensure UH students and graduates are fully supported with all aspects of employment related activity.

Skills and experience needed

Experience of providing a front-line service to clients/customers is essential. Candidates must have strong communication skills, excellent attention to detail in administrative and IT tasks with a good understanding of customer care.

Qualifications required

A-levels or equivalent are essential, or proven professional work experience.
