This role will be based at our UCFB Etihad Campus in our state-of-the-art campus devoted to the football business and related industries. Based in and around the Etihad Stadium, the campus is in the heart of one of Europe’s most progressive football facilities.

The Opportunity

The post holder will utilise their knowledge and expertise to:

  • Act as first line of enquiry for a range of Learning Support services across a designated campus
  • Contribute to the successful delivery of the Department’s Learning Support, pastoral and wellbeing services across a designated campus

About You

The successful candidate will have a First degree (honours) or equivalent experience in a relevant field and knowledge and experience of the day-to-day delivery of an HE Learning Support service.

KEY TASKS:

Areas of responsibility include but are not limited to those outlined below:

1. Work collaboratively with all members of the Student Support Department to deliver the Departments first point of contact / front-line enquiry and advice service. Ensuring that:

  • all enquiries are prioritised appropriately and responded to in a supportive, inclusive and professional manner and in-line with the departmental policy and processes
  • all enquiry communication, inboxes and / or other appropriates notes are accurately entered onto the Institution student records management system

2. Under direction from the Student Support Manager/s and Learning Support Lead/s, contribute to the delivery of the Department’s Learning Support provision for all UG and PG students of the Institution. Including but not limited to:

  • Managing an individual caseload of students requiring support and where required supporting colleagues with heavier case loads
  • Supporting the delivery of the Departments drop-ins programme virtually and on campus sites
  • Escalating concerns regarding students wellbeing appropriately and in line with the Institution safeguarding policies and procedures
  • Referring students to additional internal and external support providers in line with their assessed support needs
  • Ensuring services adhere to the departmental standards of professionalism and confidentiality
  • Supporting the Institution ‘At-Risk’ provision

3. Under direction from the Learning Support Lead, work collaboratively with colleagues, teams and departments across the Institution to ensure student learning support needs or challenges are recognised during key events and processes. Including but not limited to engagement with

  • At Risk process
  • Mitigating circumstances and extensions
  • Exam adjustments
  • Timetabling adjustments
  • Interruptions and Withdrawals
  • Academic success concerns
  • Placements and volunteering opportunities access

4. Working collaboratively with external providers to ensure identified support provision is in place and to resolve issues or challenges with initial or ongoing support provision

5. Day to day maintenance and administration of the additional support needs equipment repository

6. Ensure all support interactions or other appropriate data/data changes are logged accurately, appropriately and in a timely manner and produce relevant analyses and reports

7. Work collaboratively with student support colleagues and internal and external stakeholders (including the Student Union) to:

  • Design, deliver or support departmental events, campaigns and awareness activities
  • Develop and maintain a suite of Student Support guidance material
  • Contribute to the development/enhancement and day to day maintenance of physical and online student support hubs and portals

8. Work with the Learning Support Lead/s, academic and professional services colleagues and where appropriate the student body to contribute to general, operational and student and learning support specific policies, procedures and, process flows development

9. Where appropriate represent the Learning Support Service provision of the Student Support Department at relevant internal committees / groups

10. Support as required the delivery of Institution milestone activities/events e.g. Open/applicant days, outreach events, enrolment, induction, re-induction and, graduation

11. To undertake appropriate staff development and professional training in line with the business objectives of UCFB/GIS

12. To work within the policies of Health and Safety and Equal Opportunities

13. To work flexibly and responsibly and undertake any other duties relevant to the level of the post

Additional Information

Working hours: Working hours normally 8.30 am - 5pm but may involve additional and unsocial working hours depending on the nature of the event and occasional travel between campus.

Please note that if you do not have permission to work in the UK, UCFB will not be able to obtain a Certificate of Sponsorship for you to take up this position.  All non EU/EAA candidates must have valid immigration status and/or a UK visa valid for the duration of the contract in order to be considered for this role.

Salary: £20,678 to £26,010 (Circa) per annum depending upon qualifications & experience
