We are seeking an enthusiastic Project Manager for the GM Cyber Foundry Project.
The principal responsibility of the role will be to project manage the University of Manchester’s part in the GM Cyber Foundry project. This ERDF funded project comprises a consortium of the University of Manchester, Manchester Metropolitan University, Lancaster University and the University of Salford, working together to help the growth of small-to-medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in the Greater Manchester area through Cyber Security.
The Cyber Foundry’s is a driver for economic growth and productivity in local SMEs through the application of cyber security research and innovation to a range of business products and services. A further goal is to stimulate the demand for cyber security service and products within the regional industrial base. The Cyber Foundry creates and supports a self-sustaining SME cyber security ecosystem based on good practices recommended by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) and Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ).
The post holder will be responsible for managing all operational aspects of the University’s Cyber Foundry project activities, ensuring key project milestones are met and coordinating successful delivery to project stakeholders. As a key member of the team, they must demonstrate excellent organisational, planning and communication skills. Under the guidance of the projects’ Principal Investigator (PI), they will assist in recruitment of SMEs, monitor task milestones and deliverables, collect evidence of activities for reporting, create reports, and liaise with the other consortium partners. They will also be responsible for ensuring efficient use of resources (including budgeting, procurement and travel), providing administrative support, arranging and participating in meetings and events and administering the reporting needs of the project.
The secondary responsibility of the post holder will be to contribute to the management of projects connected with the University of Manchester’s broader Digital Trust and Security (DT and S) research theme of which the Cyber Foundry is an important activity. This secondary responsibility will involve supporting the development of interactions between a wide range of academic staff, external partners and industry stakeholders to facilitate the goals of the DT and S theme and promoting the resources and expertise of the University to external organisations.
The post holder should be educated to degree level or equivalent and will have proven successful experience in project management. They should have an understanding of higher education and academic administration, experience of budget planning and financial management. They will also have strong communication, organisation, influencing and interpersonal skills.
